Audra and I met during our time at JMU (go Dukes!). I was in the beginning stages of my photography career and Audra needed a headshot for her modeling and acting career. Since I was an eager newbie, I said yes, of course. We went our separate ways after graduation, but never lost touch! Audra became a successful cruise ship performer and dance teacher which helps her not be totally camera shy. Fast forward to 2021, Audra and her then fiancé, Grant, got engaged and asked me to shoot their wedding. I was excited to reconnect and meet Grant, so I said yes again! In the meantime, we decided to have a summer engagement session at Great Falls.
If you know anything about Virginia weather in the summer (or really any time of the year), you know it made for a really exciting evening! It called for rain all day, but Audra and Grant chose to move forward with their session. We met on the Maryland side since it has access to what I call the “secret beach.” We walked along the canals and stopped to take a few photos. Once we got to the “secret beach,” we had just enough time to take some photos before the downpour started. While we waited for it to pass, Audra changed and we took a few more photos when it was only sprinkling. It only started raining harder though, so we took a few full-on rain photos and walked back to our cars in the downpour. All in all, we really liked Great Falls for its beautiful scenery and versatility. Even in the pouring rain, Audra and Justin smiled and danced through their summer engagement session at Great Falls. We love all of our engagement sessions, and we love Audra and Grant!
